ENERGY 12 V 3000 VA inverter: setting the inrush current for a small compressor motor

Hello

Would it be possible to adjust the current limiter’s startup setting? It goes into protection mode when there is an inrush current from a small compressor that consumes 435 W once running steadily.

THANK YOU, community.

Motors, particularly those in compressors do have a high inrush current, typically 6 - 7 times the full load rated current.
If you try to limit this, then the motor will have insufficient torque to start.
I think that you will need a larger inverter to start this motor.
Do also check to see what happens to the battery voltage at the inverter terminals when you try to start the compressor. If this has a big voltage dip, then you may also need a bigger battery or thicker wires. For motor starting, a higher voltage system - 24 or 48 is preferred.

Hello

Thank you for the reply.

I have 12 V, 560 Ah LiFePO4 batteries and 90 mm² cables.

When starting up, the battery voltage hardly changes, but the overcurrent puts everything into alarm mode (it starts only once in 10 attempts!!!)

However, I tested it with a Chinese 2,200 W sine-wave inverter, and it starts every time!!!

I conclude that the Victron would need to be made less sensitive, or that a delay should be added to the current detection, but as I don’t have a circuit diagram …

What do you think?

Use the Chinese inverter just for that compressor, till it cooks.
