I would appreciate your assistance regarding a MultiPlus-II 48/4500 GX that I installed for a client.
The system is working properly and all equipment is operational. However, I would now like to connect the GX to the client’s Wi-Fi network in order to access the remote monitoring services.
The issue is that when I access the GX console and search for available Wi-Fi networks, the client’s home Wi-Fi network does not appear in the list.
A Wi-Fi antenna was supplied with the MultiPlus-II GX, and I am wondering whether it is required for the GX to detect available Wi-Fi networks.
I would therefore appreciate some clarification regarding:
The exact purpose of this antenna;
How it should be properly connected to the MultiPlus-II GX;
The correct procedure for connecting the GX to the client’s Wi-Fi network.
If anyone could provide guidance or share their experience with this model, I would greatly appreciate it.
The SSID on the customer’s network is probably hidden. Only “visible” networks are listed on the GX. However, you can configure the Wi-Fi settings on the GX manually. You then need to enter the SSID manually, and the GX should be able to connect to a “hidden” Wi-Fi network.
To connect to a hidden Wi-Fi network, you’ve gotta enable SSID broadcasting on the router first, get the GX device connected, and then turn SSID broadcasting off again. Once that’s done, the saved Wi-Fi network will carry on working on the GX even with SSID broadcasting turned off.
