How to prevent charging batteries with Grid AC

Hello, my system switches to the grid at night.

I have 2 questions:

  1. It seems to do so when the batteries still have 80 % charge. In the daytime I produce well enough power, so can I set the level that triggers the grid to be used, a little lower.
  2. When the grid is then used, it also recharges my batteries which makes no sense.

@davidroyston Hi David. You may have to explan a bit more about how the system is set up, hardware components and how you control the switching. It would also be interesting to know the voltage reading at 80% and whether it comes from a battery monitor or the inverter. Are you using ESS with a fixed installation?

Hello and many thanks for your reply.

I am using a Quattro 48/8000/110-2x100.

My knowledge of the system is very poor, as is that of the people who installed the system and pretend to monitor and maintain it.

I can access it using the remote VRM - Victron Remote Monitoring. Both AC inputs are set to Grid. Apart from that is there any other setting that I can access to stop it charging my batteries from the grid and still allow the system to use an AC inout when the batteries are too low ?

@davidroyston Is it configured as an ESS or system that ignores the grid until you connect to it? Do you have this option if you access the console?

I don’t seem to be able to access the “system setup” option.

It is the previous level and you should open the rconsole to see it. Also under users ensure you have admin rights, otherwise you cannot manage your own system. I suspect it is very much in an out of box mode and will switch to grid power on e.g. SOC and the go into passthru while also charging the batteries. Do you have LifePO4 or lead acid batteries as the voltage is quite low even though I see the system is under load?

I have managed to see that I have admin rights.

I have lead acid batteries.

When I select system System Setup, I get the screen that I’m attaching as a screenshot.
