I am running two Multiplus-ll 48/5000 in parallel and 20KW of batteries (4xUS5000). All my fuse boxes are connected through the critical circuit side of the Multiplus-ll rated at 50 amps.
I want to use a standard transformer oil immersed arc welder. Stick current will be 120amps max. What effects will this have on the Multiplus and are any of them damaging?
I occasionally run a 200A inverter type stick welder from 2x3000 (24V) Multiplus. Usually welding with 80A or less. no problems so far, better welding performance than a 3500W generator.
However, with a big oil cooled transformer/choke setup, you may have a large lagging power factor when not actually welding. This may cause some issues with voltage regulation if there is no other loading on the circuit. A few good lights can normally sort this out.
