I have just purchased a GX-IO extender 150. Connected it to my Cerbo GX, updated my firmware to the latest version(large file for Node Red).
I don’t see the GX IO 150 on the remote console. No relays, no IO, nothing.
I have rebooted, swapped USB ports still nothing.
When i plug the USB into the Cerbo, the LED’s on the GX-IO unit flash for about 5 seconds, almost as if it is trying to address itself on the DBUS. Then they go off and nothing else happens.
Any ideas Victron experts out there?
Once connected and powered, the GX IO-Extender 150 will appear in the Devices list on the GX device.
It is supposed to be that simple.
Confirm you don’t have it in the usb that is designated for the HDMI? That one is power only.
What firmware version is on on the GX?
It is supposed to be plug and play. But only in that one port on the Cerbo.
Yes I know about not using the GX display port, it’s in a normal USB port.
I am running the latest firmware 3.75 I think and it’s not appeared after a GX reboot.
Watching a video of someone on YT plugging it in and their unit just sets LEDs on as per I/O status.
Mine flashes all LEDs for about 5 seconds then they go off. Its clearly not pairing with my Cerbo.
I suggest you contact your Victron dealer and ask them to test it and possibly replace it. I don’t have a great deal of experience with the IO-Extender, but in all cases it just appeared in the device list and on the Switches pane of the GUI. One question, though. Are you running the new VenusOS GUI or the classic one?
Yes I have sent them an email to obtain a replacement.
I am running the new UI.
Unit was found to be faulty by Victron. Replaced under warranty.
Only issue is that to use this GX IO extender, you must update your firmware which in turn for me at least disables the Bluetooth and i lose my RUUVI tags, which is a known issue. To get around that i will fit a Bluetooth external dongle.
Odd. Haven’t had an issue with my internal BT. What firmware is that?

It’s a known issue apparently, it’s to with temperature on the chip. Victron recommends you use external BT.
Ah right so the heat/hardware thing some units have, so not a firmware problem exactly in this case.
And then working it harder with the OS large makes the unit also warmer.
Glad the IO extendernwas replaced.
