Growatt inverters are shown as AC loads

Hello,

I’ve spent a few days now trying to integrate my two Growatt inverters into the Victron system via Node Red.

In principle, it worked, but the two Growatts are also counted as AC loads, which throws off the display.

I’m not sure whether this can even be done with my setup:

L1 One Multiplus II 5000 with the battery and a small Victron MPPT PV array

L2 Growatt MIN 4600TL-X

L3 Growatt MIN 4000TL-X

The feed-in power from both Growatts is also counted entirely as AC load, which naturally throws the system, and evcc in particular, completely off.

Is it even possible to integrate the PV output from the other phases into the system with a single Multiplus?

Kind regards,

Stefan

Have you seen the limited growatt (sunspec) support thats in the 3.90beta?

No, that’s new to me; I’m curious to see when it gets released as Stable.

I’ve now connected my Growatts via Waveshare RS485 as well as the ShineX units, so I can get them into evcc.

That worked surprisingly smoothly, and then I had the idea that, with Modbus, they should surely be able to connect to Victron VRM too. Then I could use the solar forecast as well.

When I searched the forum and Google, most of the results were about three-phase systems that also had the display issue, so I’m just not sure whether I’m heading into a dead end.

Just define them in Node-RED as virtual PV inverters, and they’ll show up too.

The two Growatts produce more than the MultiPlus can charge

Good evening,

I understand its 3 phase, correct?, L1/2/3 as written.

Or, even when mono phase, as above said the 1:1 rule towards the Victron inverter…pending settings in the Growatt inverters…and yes, these can be bigger but are limited in their output (winter setup that is called).

The easiest way and bomb-proof is to use a 3 phase Victron or a Carlo Gavazzi meter as that shows up without all the tangle and headaches when you program them as PV inverters (what shows in the mimic has to be seen, pending the GX and it’s firmware again).

You can use any 3 phase meter as 3 mono inputs/outputs and program these accordingly also…

No node red needed normally.

Regards, Jeroen.

Yes, I created them as virtual devices.

The only thing I noticed is that the device shown in the Cerbo has an item called “Reversed Energy L1” that isn’t populated with a value.

I set that up for Shelly back then.
It should be possible to adapt it for the Growatt as well.

Yesterday evening, I still had a glimmer of hope that a misconfiguration in the Cerbo (loads connected to AC-in and AC-out instead of just AC-in) might be the cause.

But it makes no difference, apart from making the panel look tidier.

I’ll try to replicate your solution. The car won’t arrive for another two or three weeks, and evcc doesn’t need to be running until then.

I think I’ve just got it working. I turned the single-phase Growatts in Node-Red into three-phase ones and changed the calculation formula for L2 and L3 respectively…

I also fell into the trap back then of setting up a virtual PV inverter as single-phase instead of three-phase.
