Is access available for Linux?

Hello everyone

I’m new to the Victron family.

So far, I’ve “only” installed a few small monitoring devices, such as a Smart Battery Sense and a battery shunt.

I’d like to expand my setup with an MPPT and a MultiPlus once I can afford them.

So far, I’ve been checking my data occasionally on my phone when I’m near the motorhome.

I wanted to ask whether, once I have the new devices, I can also set them up and check the data using a laptop (Linux).

Kind regards

Martin

Edit - this is wrong, apologies for any misdirection.

I don't think so natively without involving virtualizing Windows inside the linux host and passing through a bluetooth controller.

However, you could deploy a rpi4 and install Venus OS on it for a DIY Cerbo GX. Then you could access the data from an app or browser anywhere. Lots of videos and tutorials out there. I have one Cerbo GX and one RPi4 running Venus and for me there isn’t a lot of difference unless you need VE.Direct or VE.Bus interfaces. If you can get by with BT and USB you should be good to go.

Hi,

There is VictronConnect for Linux which can be downloaded here: Software - Victron Energy

With kind regards,

TIL - had no idea there was a linux version of VC. Have really only head of the mobile, mac, and windows. Thanks for the info @thiemovanengelen!

Thanks for posting this! I literally just joined the forums five minutes ago, came here looking for something unrelated, and this topic caught my eye because I’m a Linux user professionally and personally. Thanks to VE for supporting Linux with your software. I’m replying mostly to bump the proverbial tally of interest levels.

Thanks, everyone, for the replies.

Unfortunately, I’m no computer whizz, or rather, I haven’t had enough time to keep up.

But I’ll see what I can do with the information.

Hey, perfect, thanks so much.

I’ll give that a try.

That’s a good idea.

I suppose I need to brush up on my computer skills a bit?

It sounds like the perfect solution to me. That way, I could control my things over the internet and wouldn’t have to be nearby?

Is that right?

Yes, that’s perfectly right.

It took a bit of googling, but from my desktop with Ubuntu I’m managing several installations located more than 200 km away.
