So here is a thing. We bought an aluminium expedition yacht two years ago. The heart of our eu power configuration are a pair of victron phoenix multiplus 24v 3000VA 70amp in master and slave relationship. There is no galvanic isolator that we can see on the eu shore power inlet side. We have now got to the point of getting to North American and converting it to US shore power. Given that we already have the Multiplus configuration it is fairly simple to fit the Autotransformer we are carrying, changing the shore power socket for a Marinco 120v 30amp socket and the wide selection of pigtails and cables that are needed. But the lack of the Galvanic Isolation on the input side is worrying us. We will fit one just in case but does anyone have any idea why the prior owners saw no need for galvanic isolator (or maybe we just have to look harder!) on this configuration?
Ignore me - we found it. It is a mastervolt ivet 8. Question - does it need to be upstream of the Autotransformer or can it be downstream?
The IVET8 can be wired for 120 in / 240 out, so the auto transformer is not needed.
