Future EVCS Victron V2H/V2G?

Hello,
When can we expect a bidirectional Victron EVCS charger in V2H and/or V2G?
Yours sincerely

As per our guidelines, Victron won’t comment on futures on this forum.

Ah ok I didn’t think I was out of line sorry but it’s a shame not to use this forum to find out about future prospects

Victron never ever posts anything about future enhancements / plans.

I think thats a good stategy to prevent people binding resources without any need.

Not Victron. But by looking at the intersolar-videos with Victron-content, you can get a little glimpse of some products in the pipeline.

I know

I did one of that videos on my channel …

But german only !

Hi @maa,

Lucian the developer of the EVCS product recently took questions on the future plans, it was recorded here.

But as always with these things there are no dates.

Hello @guystewart,
Thanks Guy that’s nice

Hi @guystewart
If I understood Lucian correctly, he says that the new version of the EVCS “is V2G ready” and that it will be enough to buy an accessory later in order to be fully capable of V2G.
Which version of EVCS is he talking about?
Does this mean that we can buy this “new version” and wait nicely for the standards to fall to add a simple accessory?
I think that your answer can interest many new EVCS buyers like me.

The “new version” he is talking about is not yet for sale, and there is no release date.

It’s almost impossible to say how it is going to work, or make any promises about future products especially where it intersects with a regional compliance, or 3rd party integrations.

I wouldn’t make any decisions yet, but just continue to absorb information and try to stay current with the progress.

I don’t expect the current EVCS model that we are selling today to ever support V2G, but it is an excellent product now already if you have an EV and a Victron power system.

Understood, I understand better
I have had a charger for a few years that works very well so I prefer to wait for the bidirectional ones which according to me are the future of chargers.
Thanks again Guy for your feedback

I admit that my dream would be to be able to position in an ESS this future bidirectional EVCS on the AC-in side in order to be used as a load if the car needs it but also as a supplier if it is the house that needs it, all automatically or by programming.
This is my shopping list for Christmas :innocent:

If you need some real-life-on-grid-beta-testers in Germany (esp. concerning the exasperating but unavoidable §14a-regulations and the dynamic distribution of reduced energy to the different consumers), I am happy to help.

Lucian is signing up beta testers here - EVCS beta testing - #17 by motylu

Thanks. But that’s the test of the beta-firmware for the actual EVCS. I’ve already got a wallbox that automatically switches between 1 and 3 phases. I wouldn’t want to do without that feature. But when Victron implements this in a future product, I would immediately switch to Victron and help in testing and improving it.
