Fuses ... mostly

Hi

I have multiple questions:

I have Orion DC/DC 12/12-50 XS. I’ll have 25mm² cable (5-7m total length. DC/DC will probable be placed 5-6m cable length from car battery) connected to the Lynx Distributor with 80A MEGA fuse.

Is 80A MEGA fuse by the car battery right choice?
Is connecting 25mm² cable to M6 bolt on car battery clamp safe?
Is 80A Mega fuse in Distributor for two Solar panel 150W and two MPPT 100/30 with
16mm² (1m long) right choice?
(BlueSea A Serie 77240 Toggle Breaker 40A is between Solar panel and MPPT)

How to connect two MPPT 100/30 with Ve.Direct to Cerbo GX MK2?
Single one is straight forward, but one MPPT to another and then to Cerbo GX I don’t know. Is there a dual cable or something?

What fuse goes into Lynx Shunt Ve.Can 1000?
I tried today out of curiosity to see if 100-300A normal MEGA fuse fits (LittelFuse) and all of them are short. (Total Confusion)

… That’s it (for now :joy:)
Thanks

Fusing to protect the cable (25mm^2) - Yes, reasonably close to the battery is the correct place.

connecting an 80A service through an M6 bolt is ok, provided that the bolt is there for that purpose.

An 80A fuse for a 30A MPPT is too big, the fuse rating should be 1.25 to 1.5 times the charger rating, so about 40A. 16mm cable is good for 80A, so using this size of fuse to protect the cable is ok.

Thanks for reply.

I’ll have two MPPT 100/30 that I will connect together with a busbar and then single cable to distributor with 80A fuse.

(Solar Panel - 40A breaker - MPPT) x2 … then from MPPT, 10mm² cable to busbar from both MPPTs, then from there 16mm² single cable to Distributor … same for Negative (-) pole

That’s why I was thinking 80A fuse in Distributor (double MPPT -double A) but since I’m not expert I question every decision of mine and I need confirmation or a Warning

Regards

It’s more usual to have one negative busbar that is connected to the battery negative (through a shunt if required), then each piece of equipment individually connected to that, rather than combining the 2 MPPT’s on their own bus…

See if you can find Victron’s wiring unlimited book.

Ve.can shunt takes either a CNN fuse (massively expensive) or the m10 version should come with a solid busbar piece to use instead of a fuse.

I have 200Ah Victron battery with 300A T-fuse. Is it okey to put 250A CNN fuse on Lynx Shunt?

(In Distributor, all MEGA fuses are/will be max 80A)

thanx

Personally I use the bus bar adaptor on my ve.can shunt and leave ocp to either distributor megafuses or midnite/carlingtech mnedc breakers.
