Fronius communication lost

Hi.

I recently updated my Fronius inverter (fro35220.upd) and about 24 h later the inverter will not show in vrm. (The Fronius is still sending info to Fronius SolarWeb)

It’s still visible in Settings/PV inverters/Inverters in the remote console with its serial number but will not show up in the device list or dashboard. The “show” function is on.

I have been running beta 3.50~20 but tried to revert back to ~13, which have had no issues with this and it didn’t help either. Tried with official version 3.41 without any luck. Same issue.

Any suggestions on how to fix this would be appreciated. :slightly_smiling_face:

Please keep beta related questions to the relevant beta section, kindly have a read of the how to post topic on the parent beta category, and make sure to familiarise yourself with the changelog and existing issues reported.

I have moved this for you.

This issue does sound coincidental, rather than a beta issue. Would suggest you rollback to a prod version to test. Thanks.

Hi Nick.

I understand. I don’t think this is a beta issue either so I got a bit confused with the tags.

All the best. :slightly_smiling_face:

No problem. Pick the last stable release, then it can stay in Q&A where you are likely to get more help and it won’t confuse the beta topics and it rules any of the work in progress changes out.

Tried with official version 3.41 without any luck. Same issue.
Any ideas on how to proceed?

I have a Primo connected to AC-out and a Symo connected to AC-in with identical firmware (fro35220.upd). Sometimes the Symo also disappears. (The Primo does not show this behavior) For me it helps to briefly disconnect the Symo from the mains.

Thanks for the input! :slightly_smiling_face:

I went out and tried this after your comment. Made a new scan for PV-inverters in the remote console after the inverter came online in SolarWeb but nothing. Problem still persists.

The automatic scan has never worked for me. I have entered the IP addresses of the Fronius inverters manually. Have you ever tried this?

No I haven’t. (Or I’ve tried a bit) Do I have to set the Fronius to a static IP if I’m going down that route?

I’ve tried to set its dynamic IP manually, but that didn’t work.

In principle, you would actually have to switch to a static IP, but for the tial it should be sufficient to add the dynamically assigned IP address manually under “PV inverter”. This works for me. It is still not found in the manual search, but the inverter appears in the device list.

I will leave it overnight with the dynamic IP assigned manually. I hope for better luck tomorrow.

Thank you for your advice. :slightly_smiling_face:
Update tomorrow if it’s back or not.

No, that didn’t work.

Is there a way to remove the inverter serial number from inverters tab in the settings menu?
Something like a hard reset without factory reseting the cerbo Gx?

Now I think I’ve tried everything.

Factory reset of the cerbo (which made the serial number of the inverter go away). Static/dynamic IP tested. Manually added IP adresses. Wireless/wired test on both the cerbo and Fronius. The inverter and cerbo shows in the router. The Fronius shows in SolarWeb. The cerbo is on vrm.

Tested with both Beta and Original software in the Cerbo.

Is there a fool proof way to get te Fronius to send info to the Cerbo?

Any suggestions are welcome. :face_exhaling:

Can you post a screenshot of the FRONIUS data settings from the Fronius UI?

Hi.

Here is a couple of screenshots. Please let me know if this isn’t the info you expect. Thank you for taking your time.

I also tried this:

  • Log into the Fronius web interface.
  • Go to the Modbus tab
  • Set Data export via Modbus to tcp.
  • set Sunspec Model Type to int + SF

But i assume this has nothing to do with this issue and if i don´t have a direct cable modbus connection between the cerbo and fronius.

It didn’t solve anything in my case anyway.

I have tried the other procedures regarding network communication in the document you provided as well.

Got the Fronius back today!
How? No idea. It just popped up. :man_shrugging:
