Hello can someone help me build a system in node red that makes my qattro increase ac out frequency if a DC voltage threshold is reached? Secondly one to lower ac frequency if voltage drops below a threshold.
Need this to regulate my fronius inverter as PV INVERTER ASSISTANT is not sufficient for me as the condition reset voltage is too low for my application. Resulting in me loosing potential power on a stormy day after a sunny day that triggered the frequency shift.
I’m new to node red but have enabled it (os large features) and downloaded the necessary packets.
A starting script would be useful, I can fine tune the individual values by myself later on.
You can’t control frequency. You can control the pv inverter power limit though.
especially Fronius is well integrated in the Vebus System, so there should be other ways
But what exactly do you want to do / reach?
So I can throttle the fronius via my LAN network? Could you help me create a program in Node Red for this?
I assume as I’m not using ac out frequency to throttle the output of the fronius pv inverter, I will need to install node red or add something to this inverter? “It obviously has the data manager installed” for context it a fronius primo 6kw.
As mentioned before I’m in a off grid situation and when I near 100% SOC I would need the fronius pv inverter that is par of my micro grid to reduce it’s output. Ideally to match my instantaneous ac consumption but it can also switch off completely if this is too complicated.
I already achieve this in a way with the victron pv assist. But because of my battery setup the condition reset voltage is too high and can’t be made any higher. So I need to wait until I reach 60% soc before the condition is released and my fronius can start to generate power.
This is the issue I’m running in to (max 30v) and why I need my own system to throttle my fronius pv inverter:
That’s the node you want to set:
i don´t own a fronius, but instllad one fpr a friend
Is your Fronius integrated into the Venus OS? Do you see the Fronius under “Devices”?
A quick look - this should be the right node for you?
ChatGPT is very helpfull with nodeRED
As a start, try to send when the sunn is shining some values through that node?
Yes that is the one. But make is persistent or send it often like every 20/30 seconds it is dynamic so it always aiming for max production.
An easier method might be to use the ac2 output and program the ac2 out with the generator assistant, you can set percentage there.
Is it visible in my devices? Yes and no. It is a compatible product with the victron ecosystem, and is recognised by the vrm. But I’m unaware about being able to edit settings inside the fronius via the victron access portals.
My victron is installed outside in the outhouse, and fronius is plugged straight in to my house on the other side of my property. This way I can catch the early morning sun with just a Fronius inverter and 10-12 cheap solar panels fitted to my east facing roof.
so no I’m not able to plug it in to ac out 2 as it’s plugged in to my house wiring abd that is part if ac out 1.
Maybe a contactor with a smart switch that is node red controlled is a possibility then.
But the power limiter works if you send it persistently, there are a few threads about it here.
I did this, maybe you can use this.
I made a VIRTUAL Dropdown menu.
Based on this menu I can choose [0Watt] Minimum or Maximum of [6480Watt] - Based on the maximum PV output of your inverter.
In your situation you can just use your DC voltage so that you can reduce or stop de PV production of your Fronius
