Feature Request – Enhanced Tank Calibration with Ohm-to-Liter Mapping

’d like to suggest an enhancement to the Tank Settings > Custom Shape configuration in Venus OS.

Currently, the “Custom Shape” feature allows users to adjust the volume percentage reading from the tank sensor to reflect a more accurate value. This is very helpful when the tank sensor doesn’t provide a linear output.

However, in many installations, especially those using resistive tank sensors (e.g., 0–180 ohm or 240–33 ohm), the input to the system is an ohm value. In these cases, it would be far more intuitive and precise to define a custom calibration by mapping specific resistance values (in ohms) to known fluid volumes (in liters).

For example:

  • 20 ohms = 15 liters
  • 27 ohms = 20 liters
  • 35 ohms = 25 liters

I understand that this wouldn’t apply to all sensor types (e.g., ultrasonic or pressure-based sensors), so I suggest making this an alternative calibration method—available only when a resistive sensor is configured.

Such a feature would greatly improve accuracy and user experience for those of us using standard resistive senders, especially in non-linear tank geometries.

If your tank has parallel walls, then you can already do this, select Standard as ‘custom’ and set empty and full values.

Yes, but my point is to do it using custom, where you have to enter the percentage for up to max 10 measure points. Max and min is the easy part.

Hi nice idea, but we’re not going this change this anytime toon I’m afraid
