EV Charging Station NS

I’m wanting to buy EV Charging Station NS and does any body know if it runs from just mains supply only?

I haven’t got any batteries or a solar system yet, just geting the car first.

Thank you, appreciate someones help.

Pete

You can run it in manual mode, look at the manual.

Thanks Matthias,

I haven’t bought it yet, I’ll loook at a manual online

Just researching before I buy, and wanted to know if I runs just on mains power only

Hi Pete,

Yes, you can run it stand-alone. Using the VictronConnect app you can Bluetooth into the EVCS and control the charging - start/stop, set schedules and amps of charging power.

You can also connect it to your LAN over WiFi and get the same controls in a browser.

Thanks David

I would recommend buying the version that has a screen so then you can start and stop charging by tapping the button on the screen. Much simpler and likely not much more expensive. Same in all other respects as the NS version.

I have both the regular and NS chargers that I use in different installations.

My view is that the NS is more suitable for external installation, looks sleeker, and is better designed inside.

The regular version with screen is fine for where I use it indoors but the installation sequence (fit all the cabling before attaching to wall) is a bit clunky IMO. I’d also be slightly concerned about having the touch screen outdoors in a semi-public place for fear of tampering. It’s just one more thing that could go wrong.

The option “auto-start charging when a vehicle is plugged in” can mean you don’t need to touch the charger anyway. (I have that option “off” on my semi-public install so users must log into the app to initiate charging)
