Hi !
I’m having issues with water ingress on my EVCS.
Bought it early 2025 but only had the chance to get it installed last decembre (french law needs it to be done by certified electricians etc etc = €€€)
I’ve noticed right away a thin layer on the display peeling/shedding off, but didn’t worry that much since operation wasn’t affected (could have been the shipping protection we all ASMR off but this one was discreet enough to be invisible
) sun does hit it for an hour in the morning before the trees shelter it.
But we have a few storms since, latest the other day… and since the display went white and I noticed a drop of water sitting under the touch resistive layer. (plus a possible hotspot near the middle)
Updated to 2.0.9, electrically rebooted too, it stays white, touch wakes it up to 100% backlight and all, but it’s dead otherwise (VRM+web access is fine hopefully)
I know it’s dirty, sahara dust rains and drops of dust filled water from the trees make an accumulation of dust. No direct water jet, not even dog pee (it’s at chest height), just rain, sometimes dusty rain, sometimes turbulent stormy rain, but nothing out of extraordinary for something supposed to be IP44 rated.
Are the displays that bad ? or am I out of luck on a series lacking sealant ?
And, most importantly, is this covered under the 2 year warranty ?
Thanks,
JaXX
PS: I’d have no problem replacing the display myself if it’s an option (certified in electronics, i play with ESP32s everyday, not really a nextion fan but hey) and the extra screen driver on the jst connectors is fitted since day 1
PPS: does Victron have any plan making an EVSE that does ISO 15118-2 ? or retrofitting/adding an addon board to do so ? I have a VW and they chopped off the API so getting the SoC to automate things is near impossible now (and leaving an OBD dongle plugged in triggers the alarm, can’t code it out either)
