We have a dual conversion (Utility-chargers-battery-inverters-house) setup. Evidently that doesn’t support creating an alarm to warn us when grid is offline even though grid power displayed in the advanced menu.
Is the ET112 the accessory I am looking for? All we want is an alert when utility power goes out so we don’t start any high draw appliances until grid power resumes.
My alternative choice appears to be wiring an SMS device on the incoming grid line. That could send a test or email message when outage occurs, but has a monthly fee for cell service.
How does that alert need to notify someone?
The simplest thing you can do is install a warning light that is powered by grid voltage, if the grid failed then the light will be out. From there you can add pretty much any complexity.
If you are not interested in the actual grid voltages, then a simple voltage surveilance relay would be enough. If the grid is within limits, the relay will be energized. Then use its changeover contact to switch something, a light or a digital input an a GX devic which could then send an Email. Ive added some filters to Gmail that create audible sounds on my phone whenever certain adresses send a mail, the rest only silently notify.
If you want to know the actual grid voltage levels, then you most likely would need a grid meter, and something to read that out like a GX.
If you have communications between your chargers and a GX already, you maybe could also read AC input information from them, but im not sure about that.
Funny enough, I used to monitor the status while my RV was in storage this way - I had a light that was AC only in the living room and a blink camera. If I needed to check AC status I could quickly hit my blink camera and see if the light was on lol. Things are different now, but it was a quick and easy way to monitor before.
