ESS setings for a complicated requirement

Hello everyone,

I’m here to ask for your advice and knowledge regarding a recent installation of a PV and baterry system connected in (net mettering contract ) to the Helenic Grid.

In order to connect the system the Grid supervisor company requires that you install a aseparate meter that will actually counts only the export power. You are not allowed to charge the system bateries or use power for your loads from this meter. You are allowed to consume power only from the meter that was on the house line. So what we finally have is one power line split in 2 and each of the branches with a separate meter. One is only for feeding and the other only for consuming. (they also have some safety functions requirements but that’s resolved)

The system we have is a Quadro 48/8000 , AC coupled with Fronius Symo 5000 , Cerbo GX with 5" screen , 1000AH 48V VRLA bateries.

To resolve the problem with the separate meters i have installed the feeding on input 2 and the consumption on input 1 (and declared it as GENERATOR) .

The problem is that the system never uses the Generator input it consumes the baterry and then begins to do restarts over and over every few minutes ( usually the batery is at 60% probably this has to do to with the batery voltage drop). If i ctivate the generator at any point it disconnects input 2 but never connects input 1.

In ordert to keep the system running i allowed it to use the feed in line for consumption but this cannot keep going as the Grid company will be after me soon.

Does anybody has any advise on how to program the system to function properly. Any advice is welcome.

Thank you in advance for your help and i sorry for the long topic.

Where are you come from?

Greece.

Very interesting as acin1 always has priority connect over acin2.
Are you sure it is wired correctly?
Not sure how you could not draw for house loads though what a difficult task. Charging i can understand that can be disabled easily.

You would need smarter control such as node red. The solution a bit complicated for the forum. At least complicated enough where a paid service is needed.

Or a very simple way would be to install the Fronius on the net meter side. Pump that back all the time.

Use the Quattro to charge and discharge from the other meter on schdules if you get cheaper tarriffs.

Hello,

Yes it’s true but the thing is that probably the wiring is correct since it is operating as it suppose when I have the laptop connected. I do not know if I have reached the limit of requirements from the system or if I can program both the in 1 and in 2 to be grid and just change the input according to the system needs. An alternative I was thinking was to connect everything on a relays and make the transition mechanicaly by using carbon relay management. The generator line is already managed by a relay. I do not know I’m confused.

Hmm yes i have done that in the past in another case. The system should be able to sustain its self for longer periods and charge from the solar since in our area long power outages are very common and the system supports some vital machinery for a persons life suport.

Ah with life support though and the fronius frequency shifting when offgrid, would that not create issues?

What GX do you have?

Cerbo GX MK1 it was few months after it’s circulation on the market !

No the frequency shifting is not causing any problem so far !
