Hi I’m upgrading my single phase setup to a 3 phase setup, with a 15kWh battery pack. I have a Growatt AC inverter of my old solar panels connected to the AC out of the multplus on phase 1. The ESS Assistant configuration gives me the option in the setup menu to configure this. However i now have to configure phase 2 and phase 3 in VeConfigure, and configure the ESS Assisant on those 2 devices too. Do i configure them all the same with PV connected on AC? (treating them as 1 system) or just configure the Fase 1 Multiplus with PV connected and no PV connected on the Fase 2 and 3? (treating it as physically connected)
First, you MUST configure your 3-phase setup using the System Configurator, NOT VE-Configure.
This is where the configurations you then open with VE-Configure in the System Configurator differ. The L1 configuration is more extensive than those for L2 and L3.
Connecting your Growatt to L1 is no problem as long as the 1:1 rule is followed… which is indeed the case from your old 1phase System.
You simply enter the PV power for the entire system once in the L1 configuration… and you’re done.
Hi Steffen, yes they are configured with the System Configurator. So just to double check, only in the L1 ess assistant i configure the PV inverter and not on L2 and L3. So configuring it the way its is physically connected. L1 will have a different ESS Assistant configuration than L2 and L3.
Basically, the wizard just activates the frequency control function for the AC output… the PV power you enter doesn’t really matter… at least that’s what I’ve read so far and how I’ve interpreted it myself.
That’s why it only asks about L1 ESS… does it apply to the entire system. So if you also had some on L2 and L3, that power would also be included in the entry for L1 ESS.
ESS assistant is programmed onto all phases.
Frequency is only programmed onto L1.
The wizard wont let you do it on L2 or L3 as the will both follow the master (L1) anyway. Again the wizrd guides you.
Remember the frequency control only works when you are disconnected from the grid.
