Easysolar stuck on storage mode, wont charge

Howdy fellow Victron users, got a baffling issue with my EasySolar 2 GX,24/3000/70, it has been working fine for over a year on a 960 AH AGM battery bank, but just this week it seems to be stuck in Storage mode even though the batteries have been run flat on a river trip offgrid on our houseboat,i have tried everything i can think of,software updates, resets, soft and hard, full disconnection of all, batteries and solar panels, all connections are good,no voltage drop across anything when it decides to charge at 45 amps the odd time from mains, but it just wont fully charge the batteries, never goes into bulk,it flips back to storage mode and sits at around 26.5 volts,i have tried forcing it to use itself or the remote shunt of which is VE direct to the easysolar via a cerbo to monitor the battery bank,it did work to start with, charging at 70 amps when needed, but now it just refuses to jump out of storage mode,i even tried equalization,i know, shouldnt equalize AGMs and i had that disabled all along, but i forced it into EQ and monitored it closely, but even in eq mode,it didnt charge above 26.5 volts, and the battery bank clearly is near flat from a capacity point of view

Your batteries internal resistance is too high, they are dead
They are possibly dry inside. Or have sulphated.

A good test is to take them off the system and see what happens to the voltage of the batteries.

Good advice, although it happened all of a sudden, looks like a possible conversion to Lithium, will remove 900kgs from the boat in the process

I dunnot you might have to re ballast:rofl:

It may be that some have bulged too.

Hello again,an update,it appears the batteries do charge from the solar, just not from the grid mains/generator input, only discovered this today as its first sunny day since this issue began a few days ago,i have 65 Amps from the MPPT and an increasing voltage now,but it still refuses to do any real charging when just on shore power with no solar energy avail, still thinking its an issue with the Easysolar/multiplus and not my batteries ?

Ok guys, problem solved, somehow the charger settings for the shore power section of the multiplus settings changed, battery mode was set to storage and float, abs voltages were set very low,i had to use VEconfigure to change it,that was a learning curve all round as i never used config before as my unit worked perfectly in all areas with factory settings, somehow those settings had changed,i am suspecting it happened when i updated the software to get rid of the annoying update request alarm,i had not updated it for a year before the other day,it annoys me when settings change on updates but that issue seems to haunt me with all my digital devices, phone ,etc etc ,thats why i am reluctant to ever do updates ,maybe my fault not updating it frequently and getting a few versions behind looks like my battery bank is ok after all despite being 5 year old AGMs ,dping a capacity cycle test now to see how much of the 960AH is avail ,then tell the shunt the result to make it more useful

Awesome, glad it’s sorted and they aren’t dead.

Yep that wipes all settings

Didn’t think to mention it as when you mentioned this i thought you had covered all the bases including re programming.
