Hello, I am having trouble updating my Multiplus 24/3000/70-50 firmware. It’s currently on v413 and it wants to go to v556 but it states “Not Updatable (1342)” could someone please give me a clue on how I get this updated? Thank you in advance.
Through the vrm and victron connect you need a newer firmware to update.
You will have to use ve flash and and mk3 to usb adapter.
What version is the GX running?
To use the VRM remote update feature the device needs to be at 426 or higher.
You will need to use a MK3 interface an VictronConnect or VEflash.
Yes that is the one.
The firmware is just on the minimum requirement for updating with victron connect. I had to check the manual i thought it was 430 but it is 413.
So ve flash is the method is a huge curve if the victron connect doesn’t talk to it.
A normal patch cable can be used to update it. It would need to be unplugged from the GX that is there in the box, so you can use that one if you dont have one knocking around.
Thanks mate, and I can go straight to v556? As in, no need to stage the FW updates?
Victron connect will walk you through. And no there is no need to do stages. (Password is in the manual linked above)
I got the information that you can try to do the update via VRM by selecting the FW file manually (the cloud symbol on the right).
Awesome. I was wondering if that was possible. (With older firmware)
Its a 2610 chip so should be the firmware I have zipped and linked.
2610556.zip (71.5 KB)
Ahh I can see that little cloud… will have a go at doing the update after work. Question, when I click the cloud symbol it pops up with a series of messages, one of them being is my GX device powered by the inverter. Is that talking about the CCGX unit? As I am sure it is powered by the inverter. Is this an issue?
Yes. The GX needs to be powered by DC so it isn’t powered off when the update resets the inverter.
It is a subject discussed in the manual as well.
The GX is powered by the battery not the inverter directly.
What will happen is you will have to re program the inverter after the firmware update.
Well that was fairly simple, don’t know what I was worried about haha. Currently sitting on v556. One more issue which I hope you can help me out on… just doing the final steps with VE Configurator, double clicked the file and VE Config did its thing and received the “merge” file. Jumped on VRM to upload the file and it came up with an error, see below. (I didn’t know the “grid” password so skipped it as I don’t put power back on grid. Other than that, I didn’t get an option to input a password)
Just make sure to check all your settings are as expected.
Glad you’re sorted.
Thanks guys for holding my hand on this, Victron chucks up so many warnings prior to updating, made me overthink and nervous. Really do appreciate your time and patience with me, simply grateful.
It is by design so you don’t end up with a crisis.
Good on you for taking care and asking the questions.
You will be surprised how many people don’t read the warnings and plough through, creating problems.
Fortunately not something that needs to be done often.
