I have recently installed an EasySolar 12/1600/70 and a CerboGX on my boat. I also have a Smart Shunt as a BMS. Seems great so far, however …
I notice the MPPT charger is always Bulk charging while the Inverter/Charger drops to Absorbtion and Float modes as expected. I suspect these systems are not sharing data as I’d expect.
I would have hoped that I could configure these subcomponents using the GX as they are all hard-wired to one another. Reading the instructions for the individual components it may be that I have to configure both separately using a computer.
So my question is - do I really need to buy 2 new rather expensive cables and take everything apart again to get this done? It feels like a depressingly expensive and long way around!
The shunt is a monitor not a BMS (Battery Management System).
The mppt can be in a different state to the inverter that is not a problem.
Their states are determined by the amps they are processing.
For example the mppt is bulk producing if it is also powering loads but if the battery is fully charged the inverter is not needing to be charging is it (so floating).
If everything is wired to the cerbo it is possible to program over the VRM using Victron connect for the mppts and ve configure for the inverter.
