Documentation for USB Mk3 commands on a Multiplus II 12/3000

I have a Multiplus II 12/3000 and I’m using the Home Assistant plugin to control it via a Mk3 USB dongle. It’s been working great for a few months now.

When I plug my phone into the Mk3 and use the Victron App to configure the device, I can see a setting - “prioritize other energy sources” . I’d very much like to access the feature from Home Assistant.

My personal use case is that I’ve a boat in a marina with solar panels connected to a (non-Victron) controller. I’d prefer to take free electricity from the panels so long as batteries don’’t drop too low, and staying under 80% is typically good for them anyway. Before setting out on a cruise I’d like to disable the feature so I leave with a full charge, even if it means paying marina prices for the power  Needing to root around and unplug the Mk3, connect it to my phone, reconfigure in the app, plug back into the Pi and reboot, then do it all again the next day to reverse the process is quite inconvenient!

I’ve raised a feature request with the integration’s maintainer. He’s happy to implement it but to proceed he’ll need documentation for the Mk3’s USB protocol. A couple of other feature requests would benefit from this as well, including reading the charge limit and the unit’s temperature.

Is anyone from Victron able to give more information on the commands the Mk3-USB will accept?

Are you running Venus OS on your pi go to settings/ devices/ inverter and click on “Charge the battery to 100%”. This will override the renewable energy voltage setting and charge the batteries. No need to disable the renewable energy feature. Do this before you arrive at the boat.

Hi @pwfarnell. Home Assistant is an OS of its own, Venus OS plays no part here. The integration I linked to on GitHub is a type of plugin for it.

Is anyone from Victron able to comment? It’s a bit of functionality I’d really like to control with external tools.
