I picked up a nice IPS 7 inch touchscreen from Aliexpress to run on a Cerbo GX.
It all works perfect out of the box, except for the **display off time** function.

I thought I read a way of adjusting this function some time ago but am unable to find this article now, I think it was done via terminal codes or something.

Any ideas on how I could get this function to work on a non-Victron screen.

Right; no attention has been put into this yet.

Noted!

And, are you running this special APK?

I note the following: On the ‘brief’ display it’s stuck in the off centre view and the top right button that normally flicks between centre and off-centre doesn’t do anything. The display brightness is very bright and stuck on 87% would be really good if we could lower that. There is a thin white line on the very right edge of the screen fr…

Or some other way?

Hi Matthijs.

Not running any special APK, just put the screen on today and downloaded latest Firmware as shown below.

Also am I assuming correctly the moon / Z logo in the top right of the screen is a direct access to activate sleep function ?, this also does not do anything.

Question, Can you explain the difference in firmware from Normal and Large ?

Thanks

Hi @Gongbong ,

Ok; we’ll see.

When running in a normal browser, then I’m not so sure if that button could ever work.

When running that special APK, maybe. Its on the list.

For what venus os large is, please check google, there is a manual that explains it in detail.

You can ssh in and run the following commands and reboot.

echo “/sys/class/graphics/fb0/blank % victronenergy,cerbo-gx.\*” \> /etc/venus/blank\_display\_device.in
echo “/sys/class/graphics/fb0/blank” \> /etc/venus/blank\_display\_device

Then you will run into the issue I currently have. It only works for Version 3.5 Classic UI will not work on the New UI. The sleep button will still do nothing. We need somebody smart to help us with that.

yeah that has been the fix for a long time - interestingly I’ve Beta tested almost every version of the GuiV2 - and it was working for a long time via beta testing, until it wasn’t.

It in theory it is possible to get working again (I hope).

Hello,

Can’t speak for Victron team but I doubt an official fix will come any time soon.

In the mean time, you can check my dedicated post for a fix or a workaround :

> Hello, I have been digging third party screen compatibility with Venus OS Gui V2. There is two ways to do it : If your screen supports backlight control, [the fix](https://github.com/ldenisey/venus-os-configuration/blob/main/docs/Touchscreen-Sleep.md#backlight-controllable-touchscreens-fix) should behave exactly like on the official screens. If your screen does not support backlight control, [the fix](https://github.com/ldenisey/venus-os-configuration/blob/main/docs/Touchscreen-Sleep.md#gui-v2-workaround) is less good because wake ups take several seconds for Gui V2 to reload, but could be enough for your need. Information and installation guide are available in [github](https://github.com/ldenisey/venus-os-configuration/blob/main/docs/Touchscreen-Sleep.md). The fixes should be quite universal but I can not gua…
