Dear Victron its time to change your controls cabling

Given that VE-Direct is Buffered TTL signals (3.3 or 5V logic depending on model) then is is possible to extend the VE direct cables. However, this can leave you open to increased EMI. I managed VE-direct over 20m using a cat5 cable, with one pair for power, one for Tx data, and another for Rx data, (one core ground one signal) without problems, but in a quiet environment. using a 4 core screened Belden type cable would also probably work.
You may also be able to find adapters that take the Tx/Rx isolated TTL signal, and turn it into something that could go a longer distance like RS485. I totally agree on the physical unreliability of the VE-Direct plug, and I think that this is one of Victron’s weak points.

Alex nailed it with his request, mine is the same many other large tech folks agree…

If you really need a good reference architecture just look at Ubiquiti POE and and manny other security- coms companies… this is not rocket science…

Please get rid of the cheap 4 pin… there is no reason to keep it in modern architectures. CAT will be here longer than all of us…

Or use a tablet and ore something but a legacy support where fine color dx only as display or so or a wireless display thats connect direct to a cerbo without programming
