I have the full config files if anyone is trying to do the same thing. I have a SmartShunt as well, but this gives actual data from the batteries to the Cerbo.
suppose you have increased radio interference in the equipment room. Your battery sends the command to reduce the charging current, but the data burst doesn’t get through because of the interference noise.
@Karl-Heinz i respectfully and completely disagree… .if you actually take the time to look at the code, it accounts for that. as does the Vatrer BMS so those 2 layers of protection exist. thats good enough for me…plus Vaterer batteries are ONLY BLE so this is the solution to that. if you have rs485 capable batteries - great, use that. - i have that in my home ststem - works great.
Your’e completely missing the entire point of this post - i, along with many others, have solved a major missing integrationn point, and quite successfully i might add, using open software solutions and integrations in the Cerbo GX. so when wired solutions are NOT an option.
There have been a few members who had to follow this route or rely on modifications to enable comms for unsupported batteries.
In an ideal world everything has a cable but that world does not exist.
Few modders would be under any illusion of the fragility of Blueteeth but you have to work with what you got and the pros outweigh the cons.To be fair few have issues, most risks are related to updates breaking custom work.
Victron are progressive enough to provide all these hooks and make the system accessible for those needing to do so, it is their superpower.
They are clear that it is unsupported so the buck stops with you, but that is the case for any diy’er.
Glad you came right and are happy with the outcome. I am certain your post will he valuable to others in the same boat.
Yes, if this scenario has been taken into account, that’s great!
There are all kinds of batteries in the RV sector that can be read via Bluetooth. If a reliable solution is available, many people will finally be able to monitor their batteries properly. You often read about unbalanced batteries on forums around the world. If an alarm were to appear in Cerbo in future when the cells have drifted apart by an adjustable amount, that would be another great feature.
I would love to hear more about this. I have a 600ah with a smart-shunt and cerbo, but not matter what I do, the shunt always has some degree of drift from what the battery reports. I’d much rather get the data directly from the source. The battery I have actually has a round rs485 connection which Vatrer says it’s only for use with their LCD display, but I bet the data is output there as well, even if I have no idea how to get at it.
I’d be thrilled to get this bluetooth data into the cerbo, so any additional info you could share would be greatly appreciated.
