Clarification on Victron System Setup

Hi,

I have a few questions regarding our planned Victron setup:

1) Remote shutdown via Cerbo GX

  • Can we turn off the Victron system remotely using the Cerbo GX?

2) Wind generator as AC source (no battery charging)

  • We plan to connect a wind generator as an AC source to the Victron Multi (with Cerbo GX).
  • Can the system be configured so the wind generator supplies AC loads only and does not charge the battery bank?

3) Generator operation without battery charging

  • Can we run electrical loads directly from the generator (manual transfer switch) without charging the batteries, if the generator cannot support both loads and charging?
  • We would run the generator only long enough to power essential loads, then rely on solar to recharge the batteries.

4) Cross-charging between two Victron systems

  • We have two separate Victron systems with separate battery banks.
  • Is it possible for System 2 to charge System 1 when System 1 is low and System 2 has enough charge?
  • If yes, what is the recommended method?
  • Can this be done without sharing a common battery bank?

5) Remote temperature monitoring & alerts

  • From remote monitoring, can we view the temperature of the inverters and/or batteries?
  • Can alarms/notifications be set up to alert us if the system gets too hot?
  • If yes, how are these alerts delivered (SMS / email / app)?

Please confirm whether these scenarios are feasible and what equipment/settings would be required.

Thank you.

Here is the documentation for VRM, which gives info on questions 1 and 5.

  1. Yes you can control the system remotely through a GX device.

  2. Yes you can monitor operating data, set alarms via email and / or the VRM app on your phone.

  1. If the generator is too small for charging and loads, then with inverter chargers like the Multiplus, you tell the Multiplus what the max ac current input is and if the load is too high then it will automatically back off charging and if the load gets higher still, then it can start inverting to boost the incoming current.

Can not help on 2 and 4.
