Charging issue dropping voltage

So. Was told that multiple charge controllers were the way to go. I’ve got 1.3kw pumping into this setup with 3 20a CC, tried linking them (works I guess), but once voltage drops they hang (48v supply to 12v system). Then they hang at 15v supply regulating that even though voltage increases. I’m losing amperage due to some weird regulation. I’m ready to turf these 20amp CCs and just go with something in the 100 range. Either I’m a moron, or, having multiple units fighting for electrons is a waste of time and wiring.

Am I missing something?

If all of your modules are facing the same way, then someone has fed you duff information, a single larger controller will give better results, generally due to lower resistive losses in the connecting cables, and switcher efficiency. If some modules have different orientation, or are partially shaded, then a second string and controller may be needed.

Right! I like the “duff” part. I tried making sense of it but you’re right, single controller instead of a convoluted mess competing for things.

You know how things are, it’s the game of pass down theory. I mean maybe it’s redundancies, but you’re far ahead of just biting the bullet and buying a spare to have on hand, regardless of the size. I digress because I’m just a layman.

It’s is what it is but I’m going with the KISS method. Oh well, I’ll find a home for the modules :ok_hand:.

Ps thank for the reply!
