Charging from grid gets recorded as Direct Use instead of To Battery

Trying to figure out why, when I’m charging the battery from grid, it doesn’t get shown up in the right colour. This peak at 12:00 was when DESS scheduled charging from grid, I would expect it to have been blue or purple in the graphs below:

Turns out it has been like this since I installed it back in Feb - always recording the battery charge as consumption. Multiplus II (AC clamp), Cerbo GX and Seplos battery connected via BMS-CAN. Battery Monitor set as the BMS.

Any ideas what to check?

Hmm, so I had a fiddle and switching my System Settings → Battery Monitor to the MultiplusII instead of the BMS seems to have got the battery charging recording as the correct category. Any body know why I can’t use the BMS as the monitor?

Seplos isn’t a supported BMS, though many use it successfully.
Perhaps there is some additional config required?
If the BMS appears on the GX device list, is set as the controlling BMS in DVCC and is sending the relevant data, it should work.
You can check most of this from the BMS tab on the GX, or advanced widgets on VRM.

Thanks, it was showing all the right stuff in the places you mention.
I had a bit more of a fiddle (and look through the manual!), so far it looks like it was because DVCC->SVS was switched on. All seems happy now, hopefully the DESS algorithms will take note  Cheers!

Aah. Makes sense. SVS can really cause issues and most tested batteries disable it.

I’m still seeing one funny on the DESS display. When I have excess solar my “Grid to Consumption” (the grid setpoint as far as I can tell) is recording as “Grid to Battery”. But shows ok on the Installation Data graphs.
Edit: Well, I guess we don’t really know where the electrons are going - they might end up in the battery!
