Cerbo GX MK2 not seeing WS500 data

I am connected using a crossover cable with terminators on the WS 500 and Cerbo GX in VE.Can port 2. The firmware has been updated on both devices. I see wakespeed in the device list but no communication? I have rebooted both devices. I am not using a shunt at the alternator, this is a marine house bank with the shunt at an agm battery bank being charged by a Balmar xt170 alternator and ws500 regulator.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  1. both devices at 250kbps.
  2. Victron terminator in Cerbo and Wakespeed terminator in WS500, the terminators are different.
  3. NME2000 CAN subsystem and RV-C CAN subsystem enabled on the WS500.
  4. do you have a Victron shunt on the battery and expect the WS500 to use the data from this, if so “Enable Alternative CAN/BMS protocol” should be set to “Victron SmartShunt (Requires Cerbo)”.

both are 250 kbps

I don’t have a nema 2000 network or bms only stand alone agm battery bank

the ws500 shunt is at battery, but have configured on battery or alt with same result

I see the wakespeed on the device list but off line

VE.Can 2 device instance is 1 but wakespeed device list shows device instance 0, can’t figure out how to change to 1?

I originally ran a WS500 with AGM battery bank, even without an NMEA2000 system you need to turn it on because that is how it communicates with the Cerbo. I turned it on with mine and ran OK.

As you have the WS500 shunt on the battery you do not need to turn on “Victron SmartShunt” option.

Have you read the WS500 communication and configuration guide.

There is something about device instances being 1 digit higher on one system, I can not recall the detail, it may be in the guide.

Okay thanks, I’ll try it!

I changed back to shunt on the battery.

Changed the regulator device instance to 2

Changed Can options to Battery ID 1

Enabled N2K can

It works!

Thank you so much for your help!
