How do you perform the upgrade?

Confirm if you had any modifications loaded and what user access permissions your gx has.

The upgrade was attempted via VRM remote. No modifications loaded. Cerbo access level “User & Installer”. Local Network Security Profoile"Unsecured".

I’ve been doing successful firmware updates for a couple of years.

Ok, thanks. Did you try again or is it persistent? Does an update via remote console work?

The failure was consistent via VRM for v3.79. However I was just able to update to v3.80 via the remote console via VRM. I did not try v3.80 through VRM alone so I don’t know if the upgrade path or version was the issue. Thanks for the help and suggestions.

The version shouldn’t have had an effect.
1512 tend to be transient errors or something related to connectivity.
It is unusual for it to persist and for a console via VRM to work fine.

You can always boot the backup 3.72 firmware copy and try the upgrade again via VRM.
If it fails you can boot the original 3.80 image again.
