Can the touch buttons be moved on the GUI-v2 screen?

I Have a defective touch screen that only responds to the extreme left side. a swipe will let the screen light up, but all / most of the touch buttons don’t work. It would be nice to relocate these to a column down the left side of the screen. BTW, if this happened, then they would not need an auto-hide function…

Hi Mike,

Why not just have it replaced under warranty?

I was told by the supplier that the warranty does not cover physical damage. This unit was damaged in transit - probably due to the minimal packaging combined with some rough handling.
So does warranty apply?

If the unit arrived damaged it should be replaced.

The supplier is correct that the warranty does not typically cover physical damage (its intended to manufacturing faults)

That said it’s not your fault either, so there may be something that can be done.

Transport damage is usually obvious early, and ideally before it ever reaches the customer from our warehouses to our distributors.

If it happens in the next leg from our distributors to the end-user/installer by a common freight carrier then they usually have some process.

But all of those require reporting as the goods are received, not after some time when they have been used.

You can politely ask the supplier to please apply for an RMA application to Victron anyway, that explains the situation, it is likely that it will be rejected because it’s not a manufacturing fault covered by warranty, but there may also be some other remedy offered to share this misfortune and get you back to a properly working system.

Back to your original question, the GX GUI is open source and able to be modified.

So it is possible that you can move the buttons around to suit, but this is an incredibly advanced and time consuming job for what should be better resolved with properly working hardware.
