to the pin header? which usb cable to which pin?

Ignore the green and red,  
Brown to txd  
Black to gnd  
Yellow to rxd  
Blue to vcc

if it doesn’t work swap brown and yellow.

I have already added a USB \<\> VE.Direct interface to my IP22 and have Venus.OS running on a RPi but would not be sure where to start from the instructions on Github. ;-(

Unfortunately I don’t have my Victron system up at the moment so can’t really tell if I could manage to install your hack or not but feel I would probably need more advice re how / where to issue those commands?

Sometimes, if you know what you are doing it can be easy to forget those of us who don’t but who still could, with the right level of help. 😉
