Battery switch for MultiPlus 48/15000

Hello everyone,

I would like to build a 3-phase system with 3x MultiPlus 15000. I
would like to be able to disconnect the Multi units from the Lynx busbar
using a battery switch.

Unfortunately, I can’t find a battery switch that can accommodate 2x 95 mm² cables on each side and handle 600 A.

I can’t imagine that Victron hasn’t provided for this.

Thanks for your replies.

Regards, Marcel

Hi Marcel. Would have thought a double pole BEP Pro Installer EZ 400A switch would work. Ed

I’d use NH0 or NH 00 disconnectors.

You should find something in the forum search.

My experience with standard battery isolators has been negative, as they get hot even at low current levels.

When cabling a 15000 MP-II, adding a disconnector in addition to the 2 × 300 A fuses just creates another potential point of failure.

Powering down one of the three-phase MP-IIs will shut down the other two anyway.

Use an NH00 fuse holder that also acts as a disconnector on the positive battery cable only. This gives you some flexibility when repairs or other work are needed.

Working on a busbar without powering it down is really asking for trouble.

Just my two cents.

You mean I should disconnect the batteries from the busbar using an NH00.

Yes, in the case of any intervention, no difference if is trouble, repair, addition etc.

So what does your system design look like?

Disconnecting at the battery would be another alternative.

It’s debatable whether having a way to disconnect it would do you any good or just create new problems.

How many batteries do you want? Best is a fuse holder/ disconnector on each battery box, if local regulations allow this.

Hey, it’s going to be a very large system. 24 batteries at 5.1 kW each.

Yes, that’s always the problem. I would, however, like to be able to disconnect the devices from the busbar.

Hey, every battery comes with a factory-fitted disconnect switch. I’ll protect each battery string with fuses.

The battery switch is at least something solid. That probably wouldn’t be a bad solution.

I don’t understand the purpose of the switches.
Under what circumstances do you want to be able to disconnect the MultiPlus units individually?
You can’t do that easily while the system is running, and for maintenance you can simply switch off the batteries.

Maybe this fuse/ switch is what you are looking for: 750 A, but difficult to obtain.. not a typical webshop item.
