Hello,

I was wondering whether it would be advisable to install a battery protect between the lead-acid engine battery and the Orion DC-DC charger used to recharge the LifePo4 leisure battery in my motorhome.

The idea is to prevent the engine battery from being discharged too much if we forget to switch off the DC-DC using the remote switch.

Check the settings. You can set the voltage at which the Orion switches off. If 13.9 V is entered, it can only draw current when the starter battery is being charged (engine running).

This is unnecessary. The input voltage lockout is essentially functioning the same as a battery protect.
