Automatic Transfer Switch for Critical Loads

Hi,

I have a MultiPlus II (the 8kw version) - i’m just waiting for delivery of the battery before i can commision it.

I want to be able to power some critcal loads (my server/network cabinets and some, some other radial circuits, possibly lights etc in the future from the inverter on AC OUT 1.

What I won’t want to do is make the MultiPlus II a single point of failure.

Does the internal transfer switch function when the MP-II is off / failed and connect AC-IN to AC-OUT 1?

If not, i’m thinking the best thing to do would be to use an Auto Transfer switch on the input to my critical loads panel - taking AC OUT 1 and a separate grid feed in to the ATS, so if the MP-II goes off, the transfer switch will flip to the direct grid feed.

Anyone done similar?

Any recommendations for ATS on a budget?

Thanks,

Ian

i am thinking aboit something similar - want to have network infrastructure behind MP2

My problem: sometimes i have to do changes on MP2 - if it reboots AC out is dead for a few seconds

At the moment i am thinking of buying a small UPS/USV

No you would need to install a change over switch chopping up loads just makes fault finding hard in the event of a fault. I have wired my system all on critical load and have a grid change over switch before the multi, if it fails then I return it to gid and have other isolation switches so I can change out the multi even with the house being powered from the grid, when I update I switch the house over to the grid and isolate the AC input and output of the Victron so there is no load on it
