PV/ESS registration in Germany, lots of questions and options

Hello everyone,

I’ve been trying to register my PV system and ESS for quite some time now. I keep running into bureaucracy and issues with the grid operators. However, I want to operate the whole system legally and, above all, get it registered.

One problem is that the grid operator only wants a single point of connection (which is only possible if it’s a single inverter). The Market Master Data Register effectively treats every inverter as a separate installation, which is only of limited help.

This is the system I’d like to register as a single installation:

1x Hoymiles HMS1600 (limited to 1200W) with 4x 390W (south-facing, 35°)
2x Hoymiles HM600, one with 2x 285W (east/west, 20°) and one with 2x 370W (inverter limited to 500W, east-facing, 16°)
1x Victron MPPT 150/35 with 4x 425W (west-facing, 20°)

The battery is currently 5kWh, but it will be expanded by another 16kWh or replaced.

I also have an MP2/3k and a Cerbo. The Cerbo is already running; the MP is still in its box.

So my question is: if I connect all the microinverters to the AC In of the MP, is it sufficient to register the MP as the inverter and list all the solar panels as solar sources, or would I also have to register all the small inverters individually? That would be possible in the Market Master Data Register, but would create potential conflicts with the grid operator.

Since I have either limited the inverters or distributed the orientations accordingly, I would never exceed the MP2’s theoretical maximum of 2400W.

Does anyone know whether this would be a possible configuration for registration, or am I overlooking something here?

The plan so far was to register the 1600 Hoymiles separately and connect only the two 600s and the MPTT to the MP2. At the moment, all the inverters are on their own circuits; it’s just that no one wanted to handle the registration this way.

I hope I’ve provided all the necessary data and that my plan is reasonably clear. If not, I’m happy to provide anything else that’s needed.

Cheers

Prolian

I registered the MP2 as the battery and all the Hoymiles units as a single PV system. I assigned the panels connected to the MPPT to the Hoymiles units.
I have a three-phase MP2 5000.
The HMS/HM units are limited to 3,000 W per phase, so the 4,600 W phase-imbalance limit is not reached.
The HMS/HM units are downstream of the battery in the metering arrangement.

It was approved two years ago. However, the ZEREV register did not exist at the time.

I specified the Cerbo as the HEMS and the VM-3p75ct as the energy-flow sensor.

Hello, and thank you very much for your quick reply.

I do actually have a few questions:

How did you set this up in the Market Data Master Register?

One system with all the Hoymiles connected to it, and another system as the battery?

Since you mention phase imbalance, I assume you have a few more inverters than I’m currently planning  . I assume they’re all connected to the same sub-distribution board, but to different phases?

Thanks for clarifying. I hope I can finally get this finished too.

Best regards

Hi,

Yes,

a solar unit with a net output equal to the combined output of five microinverters and a gross output equal to the total output of all PV panels, including the four connected to the MPPT.

A battery storage unit with a battery capacity of 10 kW and inverter capacity of 13.5 kW for the three MP2 5000 VA units. They each have slightly less kW than VA.

The ZEREV directory did not exist back then.

Here is some further explanation from the register:
