Good morning, When running generator my AC Load spikes by around 400W.
I have just recently noticed this as have been having trouble with generator sync but when it does sync the load spikes immediately.
Is this normal ???

How about some information what we are talking about ?
Sorry I’m new to this stuff and have asked my supplier this question three times with no answer but thanks for replying. I have a Victron 48/10000/140 inverter with 6 x 2.5kwh BYD batteries, 15 300w panels and MPPT 150 170 charge controller. I have been having trouble with my generator syncing and have found that it too small for my system although it has been doing the job for three years. At present I am using a friends generator which is a bit larger and it is doing ok however I have noticed on my colour control GX that as soon as the generator syncs the AC Load spikes up around an extras 400w and it is something that I haven’t noticed previously so am asking… is it normal to spike when synced with generator ?
Cheers
Well, wirh my 3000w multiplus i have 100w spikes inverting without load, so i guess its just a freak data fault , not a real power change.
What version firmware are you running on your inverter, everything before the newest firmware 552 has some bugs synching to generators.
Thanks for your input, have updated firmware and only get the 400W spike when generator syncs.
As i wrote, i believe its only a data problem, your loads don’t just absorb 400 watts.
Eventually it might have something to do with the generator adjusting for the powerfactor.
