RPi4 with Venus package (not OS)

I am setting up a RPi4 with OpenPlotter and want to install the Venus package. I had this successfully running on my RPi3 but does anyone know if their is an update package for the RPi4?

(I have seen the various threads about the Venus OS on the RPi4 but can't find anything about just installing the package)

RPI 4 support is being worked on for the v2.70 release. Currently only the "large" version is available. This large version of Venus is discussed here:

https://www.victronenergy.com/live/venus-os:large

The actual downloads are here:

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/i8ru22o4ydws1rx/AADpa8lj5s2APZ2JS78OGPjKa?dl=0&lst=

These include RPI4 image (.wic) and software update (.swu) files. You must be running v2.70~4 or later to use the software update (.swu) however.

There are links floating around for previous versions if you search the forum.

Sorry, I misread your original post which was about installing Venus OS (including *nix kernel, etc.)

There really isn't a "package" with just the Venus bits to install on an existing *nix system.

There appear to normally be Debian Packages available to install on an existing Rasbian or Debian installation as per https://github.com/victronenergy/venus/wiki/install-venus-packages-on-Debian, but these are not available at the moment.

I asked about these recently in https://community.victronenergy.com/questions/78252/debian-packages.html.

I'm eagerly awaiting their return.

Dear all,

just to bring them to an end where to find debian packages:

https://updates.victronenergy.com/feeds/venus/release/packages/dunfell/

But this bring me to first topic back. I also want to install Venus on a standard Debian/Raspbian Distro. Because i plan to use an USV for my Raspi and systemd should take care about automatic poweroff when Motorhome will go into deepsleep phase :-)

Does anybody made a collection which packages are needed to install venus from scratch?

probably i made a wrong turn and systemd can be added, but at my first try i did not get "opkg install systemd" or do i have to add just another repo?

Because i do not want to shutdown venus/raspi manual and juice4all usv would be my primary choice to shutdown my raspi within a safe way.

BR,

SG

Hi schrauberguru

I have a few running Raspbian installs and the cached .deb package files. From back before the general Debian/Raspbian repos have were removed.

https://updates.victronenergy.com/feeds/venus/release/packages/raspbian-jessie is 404 Not Found

https://updates.victronenergy.com/feeds/venus/release/packages/debian-jessie is also 404

in the past buster was available for both - seems to have all gone.

The guide https://github.com/victronenergy/venus/wiki/install-venus-packages-on-Debian

is what I originally used to install. You would need to install a buster version of debian/raspbian to have any chance of installing the deb files I have saved. As there are version challenges and dependencies to work through.

Let me know if you want to arrange a way for me to get the deb files archived to you?

Is there any news on this topic?
I've tried (and accomplished) installing those https://github.com/victronenergy/venus/wiki/install-venus-packages-on-Debian but it seems those were VRM logger and bus stuff only. I was missing the managment console (webserver...) and have no idea where to get it and how to install it.

When I search this board I only find 1-2 year old answers, mostly telling to install the whole Venus OS on a fresh PI.

Reason is: I already have 3 different Raspberry Pi's running in my smarthome. Do I really need a 4th?

I have same question. Tried to find a solution in Berryboot.
Succeeded in using a few images, aka Open CPN and OpenPlotter. Maybe this way it could be possible to run Venus and to easy switch to OpenPlotter but I think that the SD boot does not make that possible. Maybe this could work for an usb-bootable Venus but that is still not yet possible. I hope Victron will work on that? Or maybe they can foresee a similar solution so as they do for switching software releases in the GUI?

I hope they will come with a solution.
