Smartshunt divides the datas vu 3

A proffesionnal installed a SmartShunt 500A/50mV on my Lithium battery in our Camper (not a lithium battery)

After 2 weeks of use and strong investigation, with the professional too, thé conclusion is :

- the figures given by the Smartshunt are clearly wrong : the current (and Watts) are divided by 3...current IN or OUT

- the cables and wires are good...

- the parameter are good (zero curent etc...)

Do you have any Idea of what could be wrong ?

Thank you

SmartShunt

need to know a bit of your setup.. 500a/50mv shunt mean 50mv drop at 500a.. 2 ways i think to have wrong reading: the smartshunt don’t have the right shunt resistance (like 1500a/50mv here) or the smartshunt is not calibrated at all.. in the both case, you need to have more mV/Amp.. you should have 2 senses wires screwed each side of the shunt (tinny ones screws)..

before to change it.. you can to have more mV/Amp just by to put one or both senses wires on the bigger screws (the rule here is more distant are the senses wires of each other, more drop mV/Amp you will have)..

BUT if you usual current is at the bottom of the scale, like 10 amp or less, you can’t have a good reading/precision..

how much current you read in your setup??

- You can fin in this picture or in the attached files the settings of the SmartShunt (we followed the instructions manuals...but there can be a mistake everywhere^^)

- we tested the smartshunt on a different battery (with connected a 30W load...and tghe shunt gave the correct 30W)

- the set up of the camper is : 2*160W of solar panel, lithioum battery of 110 Ah (non a victron)

Best regards

hi.. tested on differents batteries don’t help here.. with differents loads will help.. but if 30w load give 30w as result where is the problem? (or i don’t understand correctly your question?)

This test was made on a different batteri (a battery outside of the Camper...with nothing on it except the shunt and a 30W load).

...it was just to check if the shunt was OK...and it was...but it clearly does not give the correct figures when it is in our camper^^

ok on bench but not ok in camper look to be the connections or wires difference.. can you confirm it?

You say it's in a camper.

Is the battery negative grounded to the chassis directlly?
