MPPT 75/15 backing has disintergrated - defect??

Hi, my MPPT charge controller had a crystalline substance pour out of it. I caught most of it. Looks like the base has disintegrated. Barely used and when not in use is stored with cushioning.

The "sand" is normal and also the strange looking plastic seems to be normal, it looks similar to this one:

Hi @Harry Kerrison. It is actually silica sand which is used for passive cooling. Occasionally is seems to get in between the adhesive and case making for a poor fit or the adhesive simply was not properly applied. It does not affect the functioning at all. Contact your dealer for a warranty claim if still within the 5 years.
