Grid-Tie Solar AC feed-in not limited ZERO as requested

VRM Portal ID: f045da7d75b0

Hi,

I have enable AC Solar excess feed-in (not Fronius but same frequency controls) and fixed the value to 0W as my county/country does not allow feed-in. If this is not set the AC is not used for internal non-critical AC loads.

If the AC input power is switched off, the Victron successfully limits the AC Feed-in as expected, however if the AC is present, feed-in occurs that is not expected/allowable.

Successful AC control on 08-10-2020:

Please advise.

Regards

Jan Hurter

You have set two conflicting settings there. You have told it that feed in is allowed and then told it it is not allowed at 0W. Switch off the feed in excess option as you do not want to do that.

Also sometimes on an ess system you need to be pulling a few watts from the grid )grid set point) to prevent accidentally feeding back from overshoot as well.

The ESS manuals have not yet been updated to reflect the latest ESS menu structure, introduced in Venus OS FW v2.60, but the applicability of zero feed in for AC coupled PV is still the same - it only works with certain PV inveter models (such as Fronius and a few others) with Modbus communication (not frequency shift).

See section 4.3.11 in the current ESS manual: https://www.victronenergy.com/upload/documents/Manual-ESS-EN.pdf
