Quatro 24/5000 with smaller than recomended 200 AH Battery Bank

I am considering a Quatro 24/5000 and have a 200 AH battle born battery bank. In the manual it says 400AH is the minimum. Would I need a soft start for this and are there any other problems that could occur from using a smaller battery bank?

the main problems are form your Batteries

1. what is the max current/Amps that they can deliver in there specs- you should NOT exceed these specs. ie as the 24/5000 may want to at times depending on load consume more than what the batteries can deliver then the Batterys BMS will more than likely shut the battery down if the current draw exceeds its set limits or the batteries voltage will collapse. and thus the 24/5000 will not be able to deliver full power ie a 24/5000 at full load may draw 200+ amps and at max overload 400+ amps (although not for long), so you need to balance your batteries max output to match the inverter, (or limit the inverters output by not connecting to many items), This can be done but it all depends on how your setup is going to be done. so discuss this with your Victron supplier.

ie is it offgrid, grid connected, what solar is going to installed, are you going to increase the battery size latter etc etc

2. Softstarts are used to help reduce the startup current of electric motors that you maybe using and thus reduce the max DC current that will be drawn from your batteries. this can help reduce the MAX inverter loads and thus the DC amps drawn
