BMV-700 "Current"/"Power" read-outs don't change to positive when connected to RV solar panels

My BMV-700 indicates increased "battery voltage" when connected to AC house current (charging), and when connected to my RV solar cells (2 110 watt). When connected to AC, the "Current" and "Power" readings go from negative to a positive reading, but don't change when connected to my solar cells. Why not?

I guess the negative of the PV charge controller is connected directly to the battery instead to the"load" side of the BMV shunt.
