Erroneous Readings: >700A Idle consumption, only 7.1V (Multi-meter confirmed 13.8V)

I have a 12V 2 batteries in parallel system with two revolution power lithium 60Ah batteries with 1m of 2B&S cable running from the positive to a circuit breaker then load. The Victron shunt probe (Supply cable) is connected to the line side of the circuit breaker (I.e. always on and before any load). All load, charger and earth are connected to the correct side of the shunt with only both batteries connected to the other side.

All load components are working normally and voltage is as expected around 13V however my Victron BMV712 is only reading 7V and says that there is an idle draw of over 700A, This is definitely false.

I've tried factory reset and linking to my phone to update firmware, the errors persist.

Any Ideas what's going on or if I've done anything wrong? is the unit just faulty?

The first thing to check and replace is the comms cable between the head unit and the shunt PCB.

Then replace the inline fuse on the positive shunt connection with a new 1A one.

If that doesn’t improve things, i’d contact the dealer for next steps.

Thanks @Guy Stewart (Victron Community Manager), it was the comms cable.

I forgot to mention that I had swapped the genuine cable for a shorter one (Still 6 pole not 4, was hard to find). I realise this was an important omission of information and error on my part.

It seems the system is fussy on the cable being twisted pair or shielded, maybe I had just bought a dud cable.

Do you know if Victron sells shorter cables? I only need 0.5m or so, the 10m supplied cable takes up a lot of space in my confined ute canopy setup.

We sure do!

They aren't typically kept in suppliers stocks, so you might have to wait a little while for them to come in after ordering with your local dealer.
