I've got an IP67 12/17 on a boat, charging two banks of batteries with a VSR between them to ensure both banks get charged. I'm on shore power so the charger stays on all the time I'm connected. Since returning from a cruise - away from shore power for most of three weeks - except for odd nights in marinas. The trip involved a lot of motoring so the batteries were constantly getting charged during the day. Since my return I have noticed a couple of changes to my charger/battery set up. The Bluetooth status used - most of the time - to show that the batteries were in storage mode with a voltage of about 13.7 volts and a small current of about half an amp (this I assume was just keeping the batteries fully topped up and balancing for the small amount of 12volt power that I still use whilst connected to shore power). Now when I click on the Bluetooth link to view the battery/charger state instead of 'storage' coming up I get a the message 'OFF' for about a second before the screen reverts to 'Storage', but the voltage is now only sitting at 13.3volts whilst the current still shows about half an amp. I suppose that the battery banks might be absolutely fully charged which might explain the lower voltage - a voltage that being less than 13.6 would not actually allow the batteries to charge ??? whilst the current is simply what I'm drawing on my 12volt systems which the charger is providing rather than drawing power from the batteries. Has anyone had this same experience and am I worrying unnecessarily?
