Venus GX don’t reconnect

Hello,

When my network looses the WiFi connection and then it comes back on again, the Venus GX doesn’t reconnect.

I have to restart the Venus GX to get connected.

Can this be fixed in the next version?

Thx.

Hi, we have indeed had other reports. And in many situations it does reconnect OK. Its been very hard to reproduce in our R&D: can you easily reproduce it?

Anyway, in the next version (v2.30) there is a setting that makes the device automatically reboot itself if it can't communicate to the VRM Portal.

Hello @my router is also the DHCP server. My WiFi network is away from my router and connected with a lan cable.

The strange thing is, when my router fails the WiFi network stays intact except no internet connection off course.

So the Venus looses also his internet connection and the connection with the WiFi network. The Venus uses an DHCP IP address, and it looks like when the Venus don’t see the dhcp server he dropped the connection.

Hi, what Venus OS version are you using? Could you try with v2.30~51 ?

See here for how to get that:

@mvader

This morning the Venus looses his connection, and after one hour the Venus rebooted and the connection was back. I preferred a stable connection so the Venus reconnect by himself but this will do for now. Thx.

Morning Blokl, good to hear that works. Yes I prefer a stable connection as well.

To be continued, we’ll look into this somewhere in the coming time.

Hi Blokl, could you try and see if its solved in v2.31? And then I don’t mean the automatic reboot; I mean if its all stable again without having to fall back to automatic reboots.

Heelo @mvader (Victron Energy Staff) It works well now. When he looses the connection the Venus reconnect by himself.

No problems anymore.

Leo

Hi, the Venus just disconnected and it's impossible to reconnect to the wi-fi using any of my 3 iPhones. I can only connect with my MacBook. It says the password is wrong, but it's not. I double checked in my KeyChain.

I'm having the same issue every time I power down my Internet. I use Starlink Internet and since it's a remote cabin I shutdown the router at 16h and turn it back on at 8h to save energy during winter time. The Venus will never reconnect to the Wifi but it used to be OK before so maybe it's related to a recent firmware update but that is annoying. I have to power off and on the GX to get it back. I will look at the auto reboot feature but that is a patch not a fix.

Did you find a solution or did the automatic reboot work for you?

I have the same problem with v2.92. DHCP or static IP is no difference. When WLAN router reboots the Venus dosnt automaticly reconnect to WLAN. The only solution is to restart the GX.

It seems to be that with LAN there ist no problem, but i need WLAN.

Has anyone found a solution to this? I have same problem with Venus GX not reconnecting to WiFi? Im reluctant to turn on automatic reboot as then it will be happening all night presumably while my Starlink is offline. Anyone found a work around?
