Solar direct to load (no battery) with Orion DC to DC converter?

I have an extra 300W 72 cell panel which I would like to use to drive a fan (summer) and heater (winter)

Assuming the 12V load is under 20A, can the Orion-Tr 48/12-20 (240W) DC-DC converter be connected directly to the panel like this:

Panel —- breaker —- Orion DC-DC — thermoswitch —- load?

Alternatives welcome, just trying to avoid the cost of adding yet another battery.

orion dc-dc

The Voc of a 72 cell panel will be around 45v.

Not recommended.

Good catch - I have updated my post to mention the 48/12 model (32-70V input)

The panel has Vpmax=37.1, Voc=45.7

When in 2P my Victron 150/35 indicates 67-81V.

Mmm, the orion might chuck a wobbly under low light conditions.

How about 3 x 12v (smaller) fan in series, directly on the panel?
