VRM Battery is showing discharging when in fact it is charging

Hi All,

I have a VOLT inverter and a Multiplus inverter. Volt is connected to Multiplus AC In. Both inverters are connected to the same battery bank. Both inverters are connected to the LOAD side of a smart shunt. An MPPT is connected to the battery side of the shunt.

My question is why the battery shows discharging when in fact it is charging? AC loads is 15W and MPPT is putting 344W in the system and I was expected battery to show charging with 329W (MPPT 344W - AC Loads 15W)

If I change the battery monitor to be the Multiplus, then I see the battery showing charging, however it does not correlate what the shunt shows as power consumption to what the MPPT is putting in the system.

Looks like there's multiple data sources and they are not correlated

Thanks,

George

Hi @gpopovici,

Please check the wiring instructions for the SmartShunt.

https://www.victronenergy.com/upload/documents/Quick-Install-Guide-SmartShunt-EN.pdf

https://www.victronenergy.com/upload/documents/Datasheet-SmartShunt-EN.pdf

https://www.victronenergy.com/media/pg/SmartShunt/en/installation.html

The ONLY thing that should be connected to the battery side of the SmartShunt is the battery.

Everything else should be on the LOAD/SYSTEM** side (even MPPTs).

** The markings on the shunt used to read LOAD, this was changed to SYSTEM to help avoid this wiring issue.

Hi, I have the same problem. But I don't have shunt. My system has 3 Quattro 15kWA, 3 450\200 mppt and 8psc LiFePo4 batteries (40kWh). I see on the dashboard of the VRM portal both battery and inverter show "Discharging" and -15000 W and the dots are moving away from the battery. In the Remote Console status display the dots are moving towards the battery. I see this problem only with a bog power of charging (300A). When current are not high vrm shows correct info. Do you have any ideas?
