Quattro three phase system shut down

Two years ago, we install an three-phase-system with three Quattros 8000 and some B-Boxes on Mallorca. The system works fine until monday this week. Then it shut down. On VRM the remote console display: ve.bus error #3 and system status "off". If our customer switch on his diesel generator, then the system run properly. If he switch the generator off, then the system shut also off.

Now we have a lot of questionmarks in our had`s.

Greetings Hardy

Have you checked that the batteries are in good condition and and deliver full load,

This is what a error #3 says

and all the codes are here

https://www.victronenergy.com/live/ve.bus:ve.bus_error_codes

Error 3 - Not all, or more than, the expected devices were found in the system

Possible causes and solutions:

  1. This error often follows VE.Bus Error 1. Solution: solve the cause for VE.Bus Error 1. Note that when using an older CCGX (version before v1.40), it can be that the first error is not reported on the Alarm log on VRM. So even when it only lists VE.Bus Error 3, it can very well be that that error was preceeded by VE.Bus Error 1.

  2. The system is not properly configured: all VE.Bus devices connected to the VE.Bus network must be configured as one parallel, split- and/or three-phase system. Do not connect two separate VE.Bus systems together.

  3. Communication cable error: check the communication cables.

Hello Paul,

thanks for your answer. Yes, the batteries are in good condition. The B-Box-register in CCGX shows: "Healthy status 100%". The system runs nearly two years without a problem. Our customer changed all RJ 45-cables yesterday without succes. If the generator runs, the Quattros running properly too. Without generator, the system want sleep :)

Regards, Hardy

Any chance a battery connection to one of the units is bad? fuse blown?

First thing is always measuring, feeling, testing. does any unit get the same voltage, no loose connections, etc.
From what you write I suspect the system is at a distance for you? Depending on how much you trust the customer with electrics, you can ask to do some checks, and otherwise find a Victron installer close to the system?

If all wiring is ok, check BMS parameters in the Remote Console (charge / discharge limits), check parameters of Multi's in Remote Console, etc. check if battery voltages are reported correctly when generator is running and without.

then update firmware + Venus.

if this doesn't help, I'd reset the units to stand-alone and see if one of the unit's is giving problems.

If all seems ok, but still doesn't work, it might be time to call the distributor for warranty / repair.
