Hi, there isn't a way to know where this error 21 come from. We realised that this error came often when a client just buy a MPPT to us, not a full solar kit. And this happended when there is many solar panels or batteries.
The last case, the client has 6 solar pannels 160W 2s 3p, 960W and 5 batteries in 12V for a MPPT 100/50. (Already told this client to improve his install before change the MPPT)

@MyShopSolaire, the very short version of a long answer is: the best way to avoid an Error 21 is to make sure that the controller is connected correctly in the first place. My experience on the test bench indicates that these are often caused by reverse polarity from either the PV or the batt; I have also seen this in installations where the PV voltage exceeded the voltage rating of the controller.
Bottom line: hook it up correctly and within specs, and make sure that all connections are good (ie, no loose crimps, no crossed wires, no loose lugs), and this error shouldn't ever be seen.
Isn't the 960Wp on 12V too much for a 50A controller? Have the client checked with the MPPT calculator inserting his panels' data?
Erro 21 is "current out of range"
